View Repurposed Paper Sculpture
Sculptor-in-residence Steven Siegel has named his Woodson Art Museum sculpture
"Let's fan out." In mid-May Siegel directed the creation of a gently curing wall made of repurposed paper that will grace the sculpture garden for several years to come, weathering to resemble an exposed hillside comprising layers of ancient rock. This acclaimed artist is interested in how his biodegradable sculptures visually impact their surroundings and how they change over time. A corps of volunteers and Museum staff helped Siegel create the sculpture from more than 24,000 tons of donated paper.
Drop by during regular Museum hours (Tuesday-Friday, 9am-4pm;
Saturday & Sunday, Noon-5pm) to see the finished product.
Register Now for Fall Plein Air Workshop
All artists are invited to register for a three-day Wausau-area workshop offered by the Woodson Art Museum, September 11-14, 2011, and led by 2011 Master Artist James Coe. An exciting crescendo to the 36th annual Birds in Art opening weekend festivities, ten participants and Coe paint outdoors at a different location each day: George W. Mead Wildlife Area, Nine Mile Recreation Area, and Sylvan Hill.
