Woodson Art Museum Offers Fall Woodcarving Workshop
Wausau, Wisconsin: Woodcarving and painting techniques are the focus of a fall workshop offered by the Woodson Art Museum and led by renowned carver Bob Guge. During Birds in Wood: Wildfowl Woodcarving Workshop, November 2 - 4, Guge shares how to master skills necessary to achieve his signature soft-textured surfaces resembling downy plumage.
Guge, a northern Illinois woodcarver and veteran teacher, has amassed national awards and recognition throughout his forty-year career.

· Five-time Best in World Champion, Ward World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition, Ocean City, Maryland
· Numerous Best of Show nationwide awards

Workshop instruction includes:
- Discussions about anatomy and pattern making
- Using a cast model of a bird for reference
- Roughing, smoothing, and texturing with power tools
- Color mixing and painting with acrylics
Workshop cost: $395. A nonrefundable deposit of $100 is due upon registration; $295 balance due by September 1. An early-bird discount registration rate of $355 is available; full payment is due by June 15.
Workshop cost includes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday lunches, snacks, beverages, cast for painting, and all instruction.
