CABLE – “A new challenge was presented to area artists by the Cable/Hayward Area Arts Council, to create a piece of art 12 by 24 inches that couldbe seen by a person driving by at 20 miles per hour, looking up. Twenty artists answered the challenge with a total of 30 pieces of art for Gallery on Main Street. Gallery on Main Street is a juried show, hung on banners along County Highway M and KavanaughStreet in Cable. The original artwork was judged by Don Ruedy, who chose 15 pieces to be photographed and printed on banners. The banners were then attached to light posts in Cable to create an outdoor art gallery along the streets of the town. Part of the instructions to the artists was to make the piece in bold and brilliant color.”
