Does Chris Abele believe in the creative economy or not?

“My colleague Steve Schultz has reported that Chris Abele, Milwaukee County's new county executive, has concerns about a $700,000 commission for public art. The concepts were unveiled earlier the same day. I'm busily working on a review of the big show of Chinese art at the Milwaukee Art Museum and hope to come back to this -- both with thoughts on the art concepts under consideration and Abele's reaction -- but I thought it was worth raising a few issues for consideration now. Milwaukee already has a tarnished reputation when it comes to public art. The Public Art Network held its national conference here a few years ago, using our community, effectively, as a case study in how badly and backwards things can get
