New Framer in Wausau!!

I just heard from Karen Mootz.  It appears she has a buyer for Dan's equipment who will be opening up a shop here in Wausau and will honor Dans prices!  This is huge for those of us that don't do our own framing.

His name is David Hummer and his cell number is 715-571-6551.  He isn't getting delivery of the equipment for a few days and then he is in Madison for a few days but after that he should be getting ready to go!

I'll keep the blog updated as to what happens and when!

Wall mural for United Way. From Betsy

Original e-mailHey guys...
Here is an opportunity for our WVAG to put in some community time.
I will not be at the next meeting and this is something that needs artistic attention immediately.

Emerging Leaders - a group through the United Way has a variety of ongoing community projects.
Currently they are in need of individuals that are able to draw a very large tree on a wall for a mural for a childrens room/space in the new Women's Community.
Are their any WAVG members out there willing and able to help out?

If anyone is able to help out please contact Toni Dunwoody at United Way - here is her email:   tdunwoody@unitedwaymc.org

Thanks

Betsy

Original e-mail........

Hi.  I am Jason’s wife, Toni.  From talking to Jason it sounds like our last minute time line may not work for your group but maybe you could put an email out to see if anyone might have time in their schedule last minute to just help sketch the outline of a tree on our wall.  Or if you can point us to a great site that we could find some outlines to print and blow up on an overhead projector to trace on the wall.  We need to trace it by next Thursday to start painting.

is creating the Children’s Space inside the new Women’s Community.  Attached is a diagram of the room.  When you walk in the door there is a window to the left a long chalkboard kid height to the right and then the door going to the outside on the far wall across from the entry door.
We are going to paint grass growing up from around the base of the room.  We want a tree with many branches by the door, a sun shining rays from the left corner and a darker paint with moon and stars on the wall with the window.  (the window goes into a private meeting room – so if the parent has to talk to someone – the child does not have to be in the same room but they can see each other)

I am sure Jason told you, we want to have lots of animals on our wall too.

Any help or Advice is appreciated.

Thank you

Toni Dunwoody

NEW FRAMER

I found someone to do framing you should know.
Her name is Kari Carroll.  She owns FRAME-IT framing in Schofield.
She ran the shop in the Metro Center until the rents got too crazy, but luckily she had a house with two huge garages, one of which is detached and she made into a really nice studio which she uses as her frame shop.
Its beautiful inside with hundreds of frames available, along with all the matts you'd ever want to see and a huge work room behind the wall.
She accepts Visa and Mastercharge.  (Who really has Mastercharge anymore?) Half when you drop off half when you pick up.
Her pricing is very very reasonable.  Way less than you would pay at Michaels or something similar.

HELP!! I NEED A FRAMER!!

I just got back from Michaels. They were having a framing sale with 55% off. That was still 3 times what I paid to get the best framing possible with Dan Mootz. There is no way I can pay that price and offer my pieces for sale for a saleable price, and I dont want to just go get a generic frame off the wall either. I tried framing my own stuff for a while. That will not be happeneing again. It was unpleasant. Does anyone know where a guy can go get good framing without taking out a second mortgage? How is it that Dan did it? I dont need a big fancy storefront place either. I'd almost rather work with a small one on one shop. Any ideas anyone?
